“Rivers of Living Water”
by BOB RUGG, Indianapolis, Indiana
We shared in worship this morning on Pentecost Sunday considering the theme “Rivers of Living Water”. Bob Rugg brought our communion message, helping us to understand the history behind Pentecost. He reminded us that the Spirit of God has been moving in the lives of people since the beginning of time.
Acts 2 chronicles the story of the disciples being endowed with the Holy Spirit and being called to service.
Each of us receive those same nudges/call from God and are commissioned to service as well. Are we acting on them? Out of a believer’s heart flows rivers of living water, rivers of compassion, hospitality, kindness, etc. Where are you being nudged?
Spirit God – We praise You for the gift of the Holy Spirit that you endow each of us with. We are thankful for the helper that reminds us of Your presence always. May our sensitivity and awareness be heightened so that we listen and respond. May our love flow from our hearts as living water that comes from You. May we respond to the nudges, the whispers, the pushes and the shouts that direct us to be in Your service. We know that You will equip us for any challenge we face and that we never need to be afraid to step out in faith for You. May our efforts to share Your love be met with willing ears and open hearts. We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
