We gathered in worship today considering the theme “Sojourn in the Wilderness”. I know, I know, that was supposed to be last week’s theme. Since we didn’t use it last week, it was the presider and speaker’s prerogative to use it today. Did you know that a sojourn is “a temporary stay”? So, the theme can be translated as “a temporary stay in the wilderness”. Just as Jesus spent time in the wilderness, so do each of us. Especially during this Lenten season, we are called to intentionally go into the wilderness to focus on God and where we are being led. We know this time in the wilderness will be temporary, but meaningful as God’s love bring us to the other side and directs on how to share that love with others.
