[03/10/2019] The congregation was blessed to have Mike Phillips bringing our message this morning. Mike is from the Centerton congregation. We enjoyed meeting Mike and his wife, Karen.
Mike shared thoughts along the theme “Be Led by the Spirit”. Some excerpts from my notes:
– Jesus is the best example of being led by the Spirit.
– Faith and belief go hand-in-hand. You have to believe that God has placed the Holy Spirit within you in order to be in tune with it.
– We can’t run out of the Holy Spirit’s power and wisdom because it is infinite.
– God has given each of us a mission to fulfill, just like Jesus. We have a purpose, which we can find if we allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit.
The service also included a poem by Jan Richardson called “Beloved is Where We Begin”. It’s a beautiful reminder as we enter the season of Lent. I’ll leave you with an excerpt:
If you would enter
into the wilderness,
do not begin
without a blessing.
Do not leave
without hearing who you are:
Beloved,
named by the One
who has traveled the path
before you.
