[Updated Feb 29 9:19pm] As we gathered in worship this morning, we were blessed to have Curtisoffering guest ministry. Of course, Curtis isn’t really a guest, because he, Lou and their family are part of OUR family. Still, we loved having him share just the same. Speaking of LOVE, what a better theme is there for Valentine’s Day? Curtis used four songs to explore our relationship with God…both God’s love for us and our love for God. Here is a summary of Curtis’ message: Theological Considerations on Lyric Expressions of Post-Modern Romanticism, vis-à-vis the Human Endeavor to Relate with Divine Agape. Can love songs inform our relationship with God? Know… Read More

Ash Wednesday begins February 10, 2016. As a community we focus on what matters most for our congregation and us as individuals, we prepare for the transformation ahead, and share in joy for Christ has come to share the Good News! Lenten practices have been used throughout Christianity to seek guidance, live in God’s presence, and to be receptive to what God is preparing for us!

Our theme this morning was “Stand for Truth” and we had some fun exploring it together. We began our worship with some of the kids’ favorite songs (really they are some of the grown-ups’ favorites also) and then shared in our own version of “Two truths and a lie”. Our four contestants tried to stump us as to which of their statements was a lie. In the process, we found out that Kaitlin B. likes heavy metal music, Shawn S. scored the winning basket in his high school’s section game, Bob B. was a cheerleader (in college) and Colleen G. once had pink hair! What does all of this have… Read More
Continue ReadingJoy – “Proclaim the Good News”
This past week was the third Sunday of Advent and our focus was joy. Justin brought our message “Proclaim the Good News”. He brought the scripture into modern day images for us and related the role of John the Baptist as a “bull-dozer” for Christ. Preparing the way and softening people’s hearts so that they would be receptive to Christ’s message. Perhaps we have opportunities to do that too? Justin shared from the words of counsel given to the church in 2013: Oneness and equality in Christ do not mean uniformity. They mean unity in diversity and relating in Christ-like love to the circumstances of others as if they were one’s… Read More

This past week was the second Sunday of Advent and our focus was love. We shared in the communion service considering how to “Prepare the Way of the Lord.” As part of her message, Jami talked about all of the preparations that we make for Christmas. She reminded us that we should be preparing for more than just one day (the birth). We should be preparing our lives for the life that was lived by Jesus after his birth. Jami challenged us to “Love like Jesus” loved, which was emphasized with a song of the same name. Check it out here…

Today is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is the season when we prepare with great expectation for the light of the Savior to enter a darkened world. Advent means “coming” and the scripture text for today speaks to the coming of God’s reign through faith and hope in Jesus Christ. Luke 21: 25-36
Continue ReadingRemain Faithful
Today our theme was ‘Remain Faithful’. Mike Weathers brought the message and blessed us with a beautiful song at the end. We were small in number today, but our hearts are always filled to over flowing with love when we gather together. We are reminded we do not have to be in a church building in order to worship.
